Privacy Policy

This policy applies to the Orbit Telematics web operations portal, the Orbit Telematics mobile app (iOS and Android), and related APIs operated for your organization.

Your employer or fleet provider controls workspace access. We process data on their behalf as a telematics platform provider.

We collect the following categories of data:

• Account data: name, username, email, phone, organization, role, and authentication tokens.
• Fleet & vehicle data: plate numbers, live GPS position, speed, heading, ignition state, trip history, geofence events, alerts, and device identifiers (IMEI) linked to vehicles you are permitted to view.
• Mobile device data: device model, operating system, app version, and push notification token (FCM/APNs) for alert delivery.
• Optional device location: with your permission, approximate GPS from your phone to show your position on the map relative to fleet vehicles. We do not use this for continuous background driver tracking unless your organization enables such features separately.
• Usage & diagnostics: login timestamps, API errors, and security logs needed to operate the service.

We use collected information to authenticate users, display live and historical fleet data, send operational alerts, generate reports, secure the platform, and comply with law.

We do not sell personal information. We do not use fleet telematics data for unrelated advertising.

We share data only as needed to run the service:

• Your organization’s administrators and users granted access under role-based permissions.
• Infrastructure providers hosting APIs, databases, and real-time messaging.
• Google Maps Platform (map display on mobile and web, subject to Google’s terms).
• Firebase Cloud Messaging / Apple Push Notification service (delivery of alerts you opt into).
• Law enforcement or regulators when required by applicable law.

Account and fleet records are retained while your organization maintains an active subscription and as required for audit, safety, and legal obligations. Trip and GPS history retention follows your organization’s configured policies.

You may request account deletion in the mobile app (Settings → Delete Account) or through your administrator. Deletion removes mobile access; some records may be retained in anonymized or aggregated form where required by law.

We use industry-standard measures including encrypted transport (HTTPS/TLS), access controls, JWT-based authentication, and organization-scoped data isolation. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.

Depending on your region, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of your personal data. Contact your fleet administrator or privacy@orbitelematics.com to exercise these rights.

The service is not directed to children under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

We may update this policy. Material changes will be posted on this page with an updated “Last updated” date. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
